A Ski-Valley match-up between Otsego County teams took place in Johannesburg Tuesday night, as the Gaylord St. Mary Snowbirds kept their undefeated season going by beating the Cardinals 57-34. The Snowbirds jumped out early in this game leading 17-6 after 1 quarter of play, but the gritty Cardinal defense would not let this game get away in the first half, fighting back to with-in 2-points of the Birds at 23-21 at the end of the first half. Joburg with only 1-loss on the season, at the hands of St. Mary earlier this year, had the roll going starting the 2nd half, but the Snowbirds crushed that early, going on a 15-0 run to start the half, and never looked back from there holding the Cardinals to 13 second half points in taking the 23-point victory. Both teams will look for sucess this post season, as they will play in different classes I believe in the post season. Joburg-Lewiston won the JV game over St. Mary by a score of 54-28.
